Etihad Towers, observation deck

Etihad Towers hotel is one of many skyscrapers here. It is one of the "elite" hotels. One of the four towers has an observation tower on the 74th floor...yes, I said 74th!
My friend Amy called me while I was out and about and said she was there. I was only a mile away so I went to join her. You have to pay 75 dirhams to go up, but you get a free meal (kinda) out of it so not too bad. (75 dirhams roughly equals 19 USD).
When I got into the elevator to go up, I was glad I was alone- I had a mild panic attack as I watched the numbers go up. I had to calm myself down a bit!
Below are pics of the observation deck:

I had a choice of many items on the menu. I chose a smoked salmon sandwich

After relaxing with Amy, I walked around taking pictures from the windows. You have a 360 degree view of Abu Dhabi.
Building in the upper left is the Emir's old palace...

The white buildings in the lower right is the Emir's new palace. Parts are still under construction

What is great about being on the 74th floor, is that you can get a better view of the "islands" that make up Abu Dhabi. When you are driving the roads, you don't realize it so much.
Marina Mall is in the middle of this island. I have posted pics of Marina Mall before

Close up of the island and mall

The bluish buildings are Nations Towers Residences. This is where I was going to get an apt if I had stayed in AD. You can see the Corniche beach across the road from it.

Yes, the views are gorgeous!

I couldn't resist a picture of the elegant bathroom on the way out:
